A Garden for All - St Mary’s Community GardenIt is important that St Mary’s Community Garden in Hawera caters to young and old and every one in between, enhancing overall health, well being and Hauora! St Mary’s recently had a visit from Trinity Home & Hospital and Hawera Playcentre. Activities ranged from enjoying morning tea, to active play, appreciation for the garden's flora, water collection, seed saving, planting and checking out on the local biodiversity in the bug hotels. No matter the age, ability, mobility or gardening skills the most important thing is building new connections and communities. In this special garden this can be through supporting and teaching others, learning new skills, having conversations, sharing garden produce, participating in gardening activities, or just being in the maara. St Mary’s invite anyone to come along to join garden mahi at one of their all-weather working bee's (1st Fri and 2nd Sunday of each month 1-3pm). Or head along in your own time to wander through, and lend a hand.
