Taranaki Sustainable Backyards Trail 2021 Official Launch!The official launch of the Taranaki Sustainable Backyards Trail is here! This year's trail boasts 16 new properties and 11 veteran hosts, all keen to share their backyard knowledge and passion for living in harmony with our taiao (natural world). Enjoy this video of Erin Strampel, coordinating the trail and all of its inspiring events in her second year. We have partnered again with the Taranaki Garden Festival and the Taranaki Arts Trail to bring visitors and locals alike a robust and unique journey around our Maunga this spring.

The couple are hard at work on their New Plymouth urban garden, which will debut on the Taranaki Sustainable Backyards Trail this Spring.

Team Focus - Vicky Dombroski, Education Coordinator Te Ara Taiao O Whai-TaraKairuruku for the Te Ara Taiao O Whai-Tara project in the Waitara rohe since January 2021, she links kura, hapū, and community groups to inspire tamariki and rangatahi to embrace conservation projects. Vicky has also been a Taranaki Whanganui Conservation Board member since 2014 and is the current Chair. Te Ao Māori, a world view that expresses the interconnectedness of every living and non-living thing, resonates strongly since she has South American indigenous heritage.

Winter Pruning Courses on Sunday, 1 August & Saturday, 7 August 9 am - 1 pm in Westown Learn pruning techniques for pip fruit (apples and pears), stonefruit, citrus and feijoas, and espalier shaping.
