Behavioural Change

Our Behavioural Change Project has just started its second year of implementation and we would like to share some insights about what year one was all about.

The goal of the project is to support the community in breaking old habits and establishing new, sustainable and positive ones instead. To do this, we first needed to understand more about the community, their preferences, knowledge, motivators and barriers. That’s why we developed our survey, which was completed by 785 respondents from all over Taranaki during the summer!

Through all survey responses, we have been able to gather some information about what sustainability topics Taranaki residents know most about, which ones they find more important, which ones they are currently practising and how motivated they are to engage in them. We also explored different tools, messages and channels to get to understand preferences and engagement.

We are now in the design phase, where we are using all of these insights to come up with some behavioural change initiatives for the next few months.

Some of our key results are:

We appreciate any feedback and comments to our survey results, especially if they can help us understand the community's needs and preferences better. Please get in touch if you want to share your thoughts with Alex: alexandra@sustainabletaranaki.org.nz
