Join in and celebrate Conservation Week with a speakers evening at Te Whare Hononga!
The evening will be facilitated by Emily Roberts (Strategic Lead Te Whānau Toroa). Our line-up is going to be a celebration of our region's varied manu species.
Kiwi - Sian Potier, Biodiversity Manager for the Taranaki Kiwi Trust will be talking about the trust's work to protect this iconic species in the region.
Kōkakō - Marlene Benson Manager of Tiaki te Mauri o Parininihi will tell us about Ngāti Tama's work to reintroduce kōkakō to North Taranaki.
Tītī/Oī (Grey Faced Petrel) - Halema Jamieson and Toby Shanley are members of the Rapanui Reserve Trust and will share with us the results of this year's burrow monitoring at Rapanui's fenced seabird colony.
Hīhī (Stitchbird) - Fiona Gordon from Rotokare Scenic Reserve Trust has been working with hīhī for many years. As some of the more vulnerable residents of the Rotokare Scenic reserve, they require management to support their success at the site, including supplementary feeding and breeding monitoring.
