Harakeke Weaving Workshop, family-friendly (AM or PM session)

  • The Junction Zero Waste Hub Colson Road New Plymouth, Taranaki, 4372 New Zealand (map)

An amazing opportunity to work with an entirely biodegradable material, build understanding of a traditional resource and create something alongside your tamariki (children).

These workshops will be facilitated by Harakeke weaver Karen Clark and cover an introduction to harakeke (flax), harvesting, preparing it for weaving, and tikanga. As well you’ll weave something to take home (as pictured).  Book your tamariki for either our morning or afternoon session these school holidays.  Parents are welcome and encouraged to participate (free of charge).

$5 Junction Reuse shop voucher given for each ticket purchased (ticket per child).

There will be an opportunity to purchase items crafted by Karen at the workshop or you are welcome to visit her studio in Waitara.  For more information about KareNZ Kitz please visit Karen’s Facebook page.

Book your ticket(s) for the morning session - Tue. 11 July - 10:30m to 12pm
