Garment Hemming (Up-sewing)Workshop
If you know how to alter garments to fit you can help keep old clothing out of landfills across Aotearoa. You can change your clothing to fit as you change or to fit a new wearer, instead of having to buy new and discarding perfectly usable fabric.
Sam from Stitch-Up-Society will be delivering a hands-on sewing workshop for adults on Tuesday the 1st of October from 7 PM until 9 PM in The Junction Zero Waste Hub Education Room.
Bring in garments you would like to alter and Sam will teach you how to hem them using a machine or by hand.
Sewing machines will be set up for use…
…THERE WILL BE CHOCOLATE!!!
We recommend you bring your own coloured threading to match the existing colour of your garment. You may not be able to finish your hemming during the workshop but we are sure you will learn the skills and knowledge needed to complete the job on your own at home.
$5 Junction Reuse shop voucher is given for each ticket purchased (ticket per child no charge for accompanying adults or under 5s).
Please park in the public car park in front of the REUSE SHOP (first left as you enter the JUNCTION ZERO WASTE HUB). It will be dark so you can either wait outside the REUSE SHOP for your workshop host to walk you over to the MRF or head straight across to the education room following the path from the car park.
Please note:
> Unfortunately the education room does not have an accessible entrance (stairs only).
>All attendees must wear closed-toed shoes (no jandals or sandals).
>No food or drink permitted unless in reusable containers (no takeaway coffees, etc.)
>Uni-sex Toilet is available inside the education room.
>Meet outside the REUSE SHOP 10 minutes before the workshop starts and you will be escorted to the Education Room.
