Closing the Loop: New Plymouth
Event by Zero Waste Network Aotearoa, The Junction - Zero Waste Hub and Sustainable Taranaki
The Junction, Colson Road, New Plymouth
Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 5:30 PM
This April we are teaming up with Zero Waste Aotearoa to explore and understand all aspects of zero waste and the circular economy.
“Taranaki is a region rich in history, resources and fantastic people with the skills to create a sustainable and just economy fit for the future. Join the Zero Waste Network and Sustainable Taranaki to explore and understand how you can be part of the emerging circular economy at our upcoming networking event.
Taranaki knows that business-as-usual is no longer possible given the many challenges we face. Development of a Taranaki 2050 vision and the pathways towards that are underway. To remain viable, business needs to shift operations away from unsustainable linear production processes towards circular resource use and zero emissions. The circular economy is an alternative to throw-away thinking and our ‘make-use-dispose’ economic model. In a circular economy waste has been designed out of the system, no excess is produced and all resources are recovered. A circular economy is restorative and regenerative by design and recognises the intrinsic value of all living things and the ecosystems that sustain life. It creates strong, resilient and equitable communities where people have what they need to live happy and fulfilling lives.”
