Zero Waste Events

Hey, did you know that if you’re planning a public event in Taranaki, you’ll need to have a waste minimisation plan in place?

Additionally, you can receive council funding to support your plan.
You can find funding applications at www.npdc.govt.nz/zero-waste/waste-minimisation for New Plymouth or at www.southtaranaki.com/waste-management-at-events for South Taranaki.

At Sustainable Taranaki, we can assist you with your waste minimization plan. We have experience with events of all sizes, including sports games, concerts, expos, festivals, and markets. Our clients have seen significant reductions in waste and a more sustainable event overall.

Benefits of a Zero Waste Event:

  • Enhance the profile of your event

  • Reducing its impact on the environment

  • Making the event attractive to sponsors

  • Possibly reducing costs from waste disposal and litter pick up

  • Providing a clean, positive environment for patrons

  • Help increase environmental awareness

  • Meet increasing community expectations to be seen to be green

  • Create goodwill amongst the team staging the event

Our team offers guidance and support to make your event more sustainable and work towards a zero-waste outcome.

We provide a range of services:

  • Planning and executing your event waste management plan

  • Liaising with city councils to meet requirements

  • Coordinating with EnviroWaste or Waste Management for bin orders and pick-ups

  • Recruiting staff or volunteers for training and supervision during the event

If you're uncertain about your next steps for waste management, contact our Zero Waste Events coordinator. Our coordinator is available to meet with you to discuss your event and help you make it a success.
