Mummys in Need arrives in Taranaki in time for Holiday Season
Mummys in Need is a rapidly growing organisation that provides mothers and children with essentials that support the healthy growth and early development of their babies. In Auckland, Mummys in Need is the go-to for social workers, midwives and other organisations seeking support for mothers and their children who cannot afford the basics. From the onset, founder Tayla Nasmith and her two part time volunteers supported 50 families per month. Now, helping roughly 150-200 babies per month, the organisation is gaining some momentum, especially after the ASB Good as Gold award recognized Tayla in May 2020 for her philanthropic vision and community service.
Tayla’s recognition is what inspired Roseanne Williams from Taranaki to start a branch right here in our region. Operating since November, she has hit the ground running. She posts, “Just as fast as donations are coming in, they are going out to families in need. Christmas can be a very happy time but also a very stressful time for lots of parents out there. If you are having a clean-out over the holidays, please consider donating to us. We have lots of children in need.”
Roseanne and her mum, who are doing all of the packing, washing and collecting of donations, will be operating through Christmas and the holiday season to ensure all needs are met and no one feels abandoned during this busy time. The Taranaki branch is targeting families with children 2 years and older, as Pregnancy Help Taranaki supports newborns and babies; however, older children and mother’s with infants will not be turned away.
If you would like to donate used and/or new items, or if you or someone you know would like to submit a form to request support, please contact Roseanne by calling or texting 0220918510, or by sending her a message to the Mummys in Need – Taranaki Facebook page.
