Our Taranaki region prides itself on its sustainable efforts, and we are here to help. Sustainable Taranaki provides education, workshops, and tours at The Junction - Zero Waste Hub on Colson Road. The Recycling/Zero Waste tours are free and can be booked for your group, family, school, kindergarten, business or organisation.

We’ve seen it all: compostable, bio-degradable, eco-friendly, plant-based... single-use takeaway containers are big issue around the world and in Aotearoa, so it’s no surprise that businesses have come up with ideas to try to reduce the impact of their coffee cups in the environment.

Know your Plastics?
Plastic waste is one of the main causes of pollution around the world. What’s the best solution to this problem? Reducing, reusing and refusing! We too often end up purchasing plastic that we cannot reuse, and the next best thing we can do is to recycle them. What plastic can be recycled will depend on where you are.
Re-Create with 'Waste' Plastics - Junction Art Class
A group of parents and children attended our workshop during the school holidays, and got creative in making artwork from colourful plastics that would have otherwise gone to landfill.
Curious Minds Project
Together with Ōpunake Communities Kindergarten, Sustainable Taranaki is embarking on its new Project “Our Green Ōpunake Journey”. This is one of the four initiatives from the Curious Minds fund supported by Venture Taranaki. Curious Minds works with school and community groups who have questions or ideas that can be explored or tested with science.
Pine Forest - A Permanent Public Sculpture for The Junction
Pine Forest consists of nine "totems of timber” made of H3 wood offcuts which have been discarded by local construction sites around Taranaki and collected by Rose. She gives new life to these misfit pieces by fitting them together like an intricate jigsaw puzzle.
